Dallas, TX August 4, 2003 — A Mothers Charm TM, a designer and an online retailer of unique jewelry made especially for mothers, announces the introduction of "Shoes from Around the World" philanthropy line to benefit Shoes for Orphan Souls. For every charm purchased, ten dollars will be donated to Shoes for Orphan Souls.
The first four charms include: China Slipper, Guatemala Sandal, Korea Sandal, and Russia Boot.
Buckner Orphan Care International is launching its fifth year of giving new shoes to children around the world through the annual nationwide "Shoes for Orphan Souls" campaign.
Since 1999, Buckner has collected and distributed more than 700,000 pairs of new shoes to children in nearly 30 countries. Last year, local shoe drives were conducted by more than 1,000 different organizations in 40 states.
Shoes for Orphan Souls is part of the humanitarian aid assistance Buckner gives to orphans. Along with shoes, Buckner also provides food, clothing and medicine.
So far, the program has sent shoes to several countries, including Afghanistan, Belarus, Belize, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Latvia, Mexico, Moldova, Peru, Romania, Russia, Uganda, the United States and Ukraine.
About the Company
Two mothers, Kari Hunt and Ruth Ellen Heaton, who met in the process of adopting their sons in 2001, founded A Mother's CharmTM in September 2002. Their boys were good friends living in the same orphanage in Russia. Relishing the "firsts" and other special moments with their newly expanded families, these career women and new mothers, who have a passion for philanthropy, decided to make another life altering change.
They wanted to create a business that would provide mothers, especially adoptive mothers, a way to capture and converse about some of their precious motherhood moments, and make a difference in the world around them.
